Second Avenue water main break will cause outage, traffic delays

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

A water main break will reduce traffic on Second Avenue in Minnow Lake to one lane from Margaret Street to First Avenue from 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 4 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 5.

Water outages will occur, so residents in the area are encouraged to fill their bathtubs with water to use to flush the toilet and may also want to fill containers in advance for drinking and cooking. Residents may also choose to fill their own containers at the nearest water filling stations located on Bancroft Drive in Sudbury near Moonlight Beach Road, Spruce Street in Garson and Countryside Drive in Sudbury near the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.

Once water has been restored, residents are advised to check water for clarity prior to starting laundry or dishwashers. Water can be cleared of excess sediments by running a cold water tap, preferably one which is closest to a downstairs water meter, until the water runs clear.

The City of Greater Sudbury thanks residents for their patience and cooperation.
