Beginning November 6, more than 50 City and contractor snowplows, graders and other winter maintenance vehicles will be out on Greater Sudbury streets, completing training exercises to familiarize themselves with routes. These test runs allow crews to identify potential hazards, obstacles and operational challenges before the winter weather arrives.

Beginning Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Fire and Paramedic crews from the New Sudbury station on Leon Street will provide emergency response services from a temporary location to accommodate renovations to washroom, changeroom and shower facilities.

The City of Greater Sudbury will recognize Saturday, September 30, 2023, as a statutory holiday to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour residential school survivors, their families and communities.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services are calling on all residents to test their smoke alarms on September 28, as part of Test Your Smoke Alarm Day. 

The City Council meeting on September 26 included updates on Large Projects, which include the proposed Cultural Hub at Tom Davies Square and the Greater Sudbury Event Centre.

As directed by Council in April 2022, the City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking a review of its French Language Services Policy. The policy was adopted in 2001, with the commitment to offer services and communications in both English and French.

The pedestrian bridge along the trail, lost to flooding this spring, will be replaced in mid-October 2023.

For the second consecutive year, Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings has reaffirmed the City of Greater Sudbury’s credit rating as AA+ with a stable outlook, one of the agency’s top ratings.
