The public is advised that the Significant Weather Event issued by the City of Greater Sudbury starting at 5 a.m. on March 6, remains in effect, due to continued inclement weather and forecast weather conditions. This is in accordance with Ontario Consolidated Regulation 239/02 under the Municipal Act.

Effective today, March 1, the Province is making its next round of changes to ease public health measures across Ontario, including removing proof of vaccination requirements and capacity limits in all indoor settings. Those same measures have now been lifted in City of Greater Sudbury facilities.

City crews are getting ready to begin snow removal in downtown Sudbury to widen traffic lanes and improve access. The work will be done from Monday, February 28 to Friday, March 4, from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. each day, weather permitting.

The horrific events currently taking place in Ukraine are extremely devastating and I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to the millions of individuals and families whose livelihoods and wellbeing are threatened.

With the Family Day long weekend ahead, it’s a great time for some family fun. There are many great indoor and outdoor activities available throughout the city for everyone to enjoy.

As COVID-19 trends and key health indicators across Ontario continue to improve, the Province has announced that it will be easing public health measures sooner than expected. The first round of changes takes effect February 17, with additional changes expected March 1.

The project aims to improve the quality of Greater Sudbury’s recreation and leisure infrastructure and increase utilization.

As part of its commitment to regular and transparent reporting to the community, the City of Greater Sudbury has launched a new online Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Dashboard. 

The deadline to apply for certain property tax rebates on final 2021 property taxes is fast approaching. Applications must be received by the City of Greater Sudbury Tax section by Monday, February 28, 2022.

Interim property tax bills are in the mail. The first instalment is due March 1, 2022, and the second is due April 1, 2022.

Effective Monday, February 7, Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) will return to in-branch services, as part of a gradual reopening plan. Libraries have been offering curbside and counterside services since January 10, in response to operational impacts to service levels. 

Geotechnical and hydrological testing will take place at the Junction East site on Shaughnessy St. from February 9 to 11.

Construction of the Event Centre will begin when the final design is complete, with a planned opening expected in 2025.
