In recent weeks and days, I have been saddened by the growing number of COVID-related fatalities in our community and I would like to extend my condolences to the families of each individual during this extremely difficult time.

Residents of Greater Sudbury may know that I have excused myself from the past two City Council Meetings. In doing so, I would like to share some details on my role as a Mayor and a caretaker.

As part of ongoing efforts to foster development and investment in the Downtown, seven projects will benefit from financial incentives through the City of Greater Sudbury’s Downtown Community Improvement Plan. The applications were accepted at the Finance and Administration Committee Meeting on Tuesday, subject to ratification by City Council on November 23.

Residents are invited to a virtual Budget Town Hall November 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn more about the proposed 2022 Municipal Budget and ask questions related to municipal services.

Following the implementation of the City of Greater Sudbury’s mandatory COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Policy, 96 per cent of employees are fully vaccinated or have received one dose of the vaccine. 

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement that could see the city receive a mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain tonight into tomorrow morning.

On Monday, November 15, 2021, the City of Greater Sudbury will begin a project to expand the landfill gas collection system. The project includes excavation work at the Greater Sudbury Landfill on the Kingsway.

Effective Monday, November 15, the City of Greater Sudbury is expanding proof of vaccination requirements to include some additional municipal facilities. This change was unanimously approved by City Council at its meeting on November 9.
