Fire Ban Update

REMINDER: Fire Ban Remains in Effect for Greater Sudbury

A reminder to residents that a ban on all open air fires, including campfires, chiminea fireplaces, crop residue fires, fireworks, and any other type of outdoor burning, remains in effect.

Conditions in the bush are extremely dry. Please be extra cautious when disposing of smoking materials. Fires can move very quickly in these hot, dry conditions.

There are currently no active bush fires within the City of Greater Sudbury MNR protection area and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry continues to respond to several fires across northeastern Ontario.

All open air fire permits have been cancelled for the duration of the ban. Gas-fired and charcoal barbecues are exempt from the this fire ban.
Should a violation of the fire ban result in a response by firefighters, the individuals responsible could be charged for the full cost of fire services.

Conditions are monitored daily. Residents will be advised when the ban is lifted.
