Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

Rate of Pay: $28.57 per hour
(Training Opportunity range of pay is $27.14 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.)

Section: Compliance and Operational Support
Division: Water/Wastewater Treatment and Compliance
Department: Growth and Development                                                                               

Duties: Under the supervision of the Water Meter Compliance Officer:

  1.       Install, repair, test, calibrate and maintain all types of water meters.

  2.       Required to read and record consumption flows on certain meters.

  3.       Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.

  4.       Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the maintenance and installation of meters and/or be licensed as a water meter installer.
  • Ability to calibrate measuring chambers and gear trains, on all meters and test within specified regulations.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Must be able to effectively complete M.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Provide, at own cost, a Criminal Reference Check.
  • May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business.  Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.
