Greater Sudbury Public Library Board

The Greater Sudbury Public Library Board of Directors is seeking one member to fill a current vacancy for a term ending in January 2023.

Board members oversee the purpose and operation of the public library system to achieve identified outcomes through planning, policy development and advocacy in accordance with provincial legislation.

Major projects for the term of the Board include revision of an operating agreement with the City of Greater Sudbury, identification of strategic priorities and construction of a new Central Library.

Regular meetings are scheduled 10 times a year. The term of office will be until January 2023 or until successors are appointed. Any member of the Board may serve for successive terms.

Deadline to submit the attached application is Friday, June 18 at 4:30 p.m.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer position.

Eligible candidates must be:

  • at least 18 years of age
  • a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • a resident of the City of Greater Sudbury

Municipal employees are not eligible for appointment.

Experience in one or more of the following is considered an asset:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Human Resources
  • Legal
  • Engineering
  • Governance

Additional considerations for appointment:

  • Representation of Greater Sudbury’s demographic;
  • Support for values represented by cultural diversity, equitable access, intellectual freedom, accessibility and innovation;
  • Commitment to a comprehensive and efficient public library service reflecting the community’s needs;
  • Willingness to learn about public library issues and concerns at both the provincial and national levels;
  • Motivation, skills and vision to contribute to the nine-member Greater Sudbury Public Library Board of Directors.
