Winter Maintenance

Listen to City of Greater Sudbury's General Manager of Infrastructure Services, Tony Cecutti, explain why a parking metre buried in snow does not equal free parking.

Let It Snow! We're Ready for Winter

Long before the first snowfall, the City of Greater Sudbury starts preparing for the winter season.  In late October, a training exercise was scheduled to familiarize winter crews with snowplow routes. This test run of winter vehicles and equipment on dry roads was also an opportunity to identify potential hazards and obstacles that could lay hidden by blowing snow in the months ahead. All crews and equipment were ready for active winter service as of November 1.

Keeping our roads clear for emergency response vehicles, business and personal travellers is an enormous task involving hundreds of people. The City of Greater Sudbury is fortunate to have experienced employees who are committed to public safety, no matter how difficult or dangerous the weather.
