Residents invited to take the Personal Preparedness Challenge

The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting residents to show how prepared they are in case of an emergency. Emergency Preparedness week is May 1 to 7 and the focus for this year’s campaign is” Emergency Preparedness Starts with you, Prepare Yourselfie!”

The Prepare Yourselfie campaign is designed to engage residents in emergency preparedness, heightening the importance of accountability and action in a fun and interactive way. Residents are encouraged to take a selfie showing how prepared they are for emergencies that could occur at home or at work. Examples of these could be pictures of your supply of canned foods, supply of water for 72 hours, or candles and flashlights you have around the home in case of a power outage.

Residents are invited to share selfies through their personal social media channels using the hashtag #prepareyourselfie, #EPWeek2016  or @GreaterSudbury. Residents who post a “selfie” showing their preparedness will be entered into a draw to win daily prizes of emergency survival kits, cranked radio, gift cards or a paid registration to attend a 2 day Basic Emergency Management training (BEM) course.
