GSERV Training and Information Session

Being prepared is critical to our community’s ability to respond to and recover from an emergency. When disaster strikes, citizens want to help but may not know how or where to offer their services.

The City of Greater Sudbury, in partnership with Volunteer Sudbury, Health Sciences North and the Sudbury and District Health Unit, has established the Greater Sudbury Emergency Response Volunteer (GSERV) program, designed to coordinate community volunteers who want to help when disaster strikes.

Residents interested in joining GSERV or to obtain more information are encouraged to attend a training and information session being held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 106 at the Lionel E. Lalonde Centre in Azilda.

Representatives from the City’s Emergency Management Section will be joined by community partners offering information, presentations and tours of the Emergency Operations Centre and Mobile Command Unit.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to confirm attendance by contacting Volunteer Sudbury at 705-560-6661 or by emailing gserv@volunteersudbury.org.
