Development Charge Rates for July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016

The City of Greater Sudbury’s 2015-2016 Development Charges rates will take effect on July 1, 2015, with an increase of 1.7 per cent, in accordance with the Non-Residential Building Construction Price Index, as per the Development Charges by-law. 

Rates are effective through to June 30, 2016, and are as follows:

Single Family Dwelling - $15,036 per unit 

Semi Detached - $9,415 per unit 

Multiples - $9,415 per unit 

Industrial - $4.40 per square foot 

Non-Industrial (Commercial/Institutional) - $8.98 per square foot 

In accordance with the Development Charges Act, the City of Greater Sudbury collects a development charge at the building permit stage to recover for the growth related portion of capital needs so that development continues to be serviced in a fiscally responsible manner. Examples of projects with a growth related share include Maley Drive, various widening of roads, the expansion of the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex and the South End Library.  

Development Charges are applied to all new residential and non-residential development, subject to certain terms, conditions and limited exemptions, as identified.
