Council Appoints Closed Meeting Investigator

Jan 13, 2015

The City of Greater Sudbury Council has appointed the Ontario Ombudsman as its closed meeting investigator for this term of Council, which ends on November 30, 2018. Each municipality is required to have an investigator to ensure compliance with the closed meeting provisions of the Municipal Act.

Citizens who believe that Council has not complied with provisions of the Municipal Act pertaining to closed meetings that have occurred after today’s date can make a complaint with the Ombudsman’s office. The closed meeting investigation process covers all municipal boards and committees, with the exception of school boards, conservation authorities, police services boards, and public library boards.
