City of Greater Sudbury Citizen Survey Begins Today

Sep 27, 2016

Residents are encouraged to participate in the City of Greater Sudbury’s Citizen Survey 2016 which begins today, Monday, September 26. The City has retained Metroline Research Group Inc., a national marketing research company, to survey 1,200 random households for levels of satisfaction with local quality of life and opinions on municipal services.

“Council, as part of its strategic planning, felt a citizen satisfaction survey was an important tool to assist us in better understanding our community,” said Mayor Brian Bigger. “This will be the City of Greater Sudbury’s first such survey since 2009, and we are looking forward to your feedback to ensure we are aligning our work with your expectations.”

Metroline Research Group will provide a statistically valid survey of 1,200 residents, conducted by telephone. The City is encouraging residents of legal voting age who are contacted by Metroline Research Group to participate in the survey. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete and will cover the following topics:

issues that are most important to residents;
•residents’ opinion about the quality of life in Greater Sudbury;

•residents’ opinions about municipal services, programs, and facilities; and

•residents’ general sense of the future of Greater Sudbury.

“A citizen satisfaction survey is a benchmarking tool used by many municipalities across North America to measure how residents rate their current quality of life,” said Chief Administrative Officer Ed Archer. “We encourage all residents to participate, either by telephone or online, to help us better understand the issues that are most important to them.”

In the interests of public engagement and inclusiveness, the City will also make an online version of the survey available to all residents from www.greatersudbury.ca/citsurvey. The online survey is available from September 26 to October 7. Printed copies of the survey are available by calling 3-1-1.

Results of the 2016 City of Greater Sudbury Citizen Survey will be presented to Council early in 2017.
