Lost and Found
Dogs and cats are more likely to return home if wearing an up-to-date licence tag. If your pet is wearing its current tag, Greater Sudbury By-law Compliance and Enforcement will return your pet directly to your door free of charge the first time it is found roaming at large.
Greater Sudbury Shelter staff will make every reasonable effort to reunite dogs and cats with their owners. Pet owners retrieving their dog or cat from the Shelter must pay:
- Impound Fee: $50
- Boarding Fee: $15 per day
- Cost of Veterinary Care: When applicable
If a pet is not licensed, pet owners must also purchase a dog or cat licence.
Deceased animals are checked for a microchip, tattoo and/or pet tag for comparison against lost pet reports. Staff will make every effort to contact the owner.
At least once a week, Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter will update a list of unidentified deceased animals recovered from municipal roads. As difficult as it may be, locations and descriptions may help you identify a lost pet.
To claim your dog or cat from the Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter
