Environmental Initiatives

See what the City is doing and discover how you can do your part.

Biodiversity
A Draft Biodiversity Action Plan for Greater Sudbury has been developed that defines the vision and prioritized goals for biodiversity recovery. We see this Action Plan as a ‘living document' for the community, one we will review regularly and update according to our changing landscape, and to the priorities of our community.

Regreening Program
Initiated in 1978, this ongoing program continues to reclaim and restore the region's landscape.

EarthCare Sudbury
The City, along with numerous community organizations, businesses and hundreds of individuals are working together to encourage a greener, healthier and more sustainable Sudbury.

Lake Water Quality
The Lake Water Quality Program promotes the stewardship and protection of the City's 330 lakes.

Energy Efficiency (Efficient Sudbury)
Efficient Sudbury is a community-based program designed to promote energy conservation, increase awareness of energy efficient products, and encourage homeowners to consider ENERGY STAR® qualified products.

Carpooling Network
EarthCare Sudbury has developed a carpooling network for the employees and citizens of Greater Sudbury. By carpooling, you can cut your operating costs from 50% to 75% and reduce your greenhouse gas emmisions and protect the quality of air we breathe.

Clean-up Greater Sudbury
Through various clean up programs along with an educational plan, the Clean Up Greater Sudbury Program plans, manages and promotes clean up initiatives to keep Greater Sudbury clean and to revitalize community pride and to create litter awareness throughout the City
