Building today for a better tomorrow
The City of Greater Sudbury covers the widest area of any municipality in Ontario, stretching over 3,627 square kilometres. Municipal roads total more than 3,560 lane kilometres, a measurement that takes into consideration the length and number of lanes on a road system. If these lane kilometres were laid end-to-end, the distance would reach from Greater Sudbury to Atlanta, Georgia.
Connecting this geographic diversity with a reliable road network is an enormous task involving hundreds of people. A committed work force is responsible for the maintenance and renewal of the local road system, as well as bridges, culverts, drainage systems, traffic signals and sidewalks.
