How do I reach the tax department?

You can reach the City of Greater Sudbury Tax Department by dialing 3-1-1.

You can obtain payment history and an account balance for your property by calling the tax department or by inquiring in person at your nearest Citizen Service Centre. Please have your roll number (found on your tax bill) ready.

How do I change my mailing address?

Written authorization is required for a mailing address change in order to ensure that your next tax bill is mailed to you correctly and on time. My spouse has passed away. How do I remove his/her name from the tax bill?

Please submit the property address and a copy of the death certificate to the tax department and to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

What should I do if I have recently purchased a property?

To avoid late charges on taxes owing on newly purchased properties, purchasers should contact the tax department or their nearest Citizen Service Centre before closing the transaction.

If a legal firm has been retained to complete the property transaction, a tax certificate is usually included with the service.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that the tax department has all necessary information to forward tax instalments to the correct address.

 

How can I obtain a tax certificate?

The current fee for a tax certificate is $82. A tax certificate is a statement of the property tax status of a property.
Requests for tax certificates and the appropriate fee must be submitted to the tax department. Please scroll to "How do I reach the tax department" for email, fax, mail and in person service.
You must include a copy of documentation authorizing the land transfer with your request.
